Oct 13: New Jersey “Parenting for Character: How to raise socially responsible kids who do the right thing”

by | Oct 12, 2009 | Character and Moral Intelligence, The Big Book of Parenting Solutions, Upcoming Media and Speaking Appearances

Hello New Jersey Parents! This Tuesday October 13 @ 7 pm – 9 pm I’m speaking at the Montessori Children’s Academy in Chatham, New Jersey. Parents from all over the area will be there. Hope you can join me. Details are below.

REALITY CHECK: Ever wonder what  really matters in raising a productive, responsible child or how to really help kids stand up to peer pressure and defy those temptations? Do you ever ponder as to the best ways to help kids become compassionate, respectful and do the right thing WITHOUT us? Wonder no more! Parents who raise responsible kids with strong character don’t do so by accident. They apply a few purposeful  strategies and responses to their daily parenting. Those same simple and proven strategies are ones you can use with your kids. Using them will greatly increase the odds that your children will turn out to be more productive, responsible, empathic and have strong character.

I hope you join me tomorrow night (October 13) in the Newark area where I’ll be sharing dozens of proven and practical solutions to just those issues from my new book, The Big Book of Parenting Solutions: 101 Answers to Your Everyday Challenges and Wildest Worries. I’ll share strategies that boost empathy, conscience, and self-control, discipline techniques that stretch your child’s conscience so he wants to act right, and essential character-building skills that will help your child say NO, solve problems more amicably, think before acting, and consider the needs of others.

My speech topic is “Parenting for Character: Raising Socially Responsible Kids Who Do the Right Thing” and I’ll be giving it on Tuesday evening (October 13) from 7 to 9 pm at the Montessori Children’s Academy in Chatham. The director of Montessori Development, Camilla Nichols, invited me to speak to parents of Montessori children in the Chatham, Madison, and Short Hills areas. (I have to say I love Montessori education. The work of Jean Piaget and Maria Montessori were significant to my work in child development).

If interested, contact Camilla Nichols: 973.665.0071 or email her at mcacamilla@aol.com

Hope to see you!
